Well..here we go… blog no 2!

What a crazy few weeks it's been, so much happening on a personal note music-wise.

Gotta start with the launch of the new Corrugated Tunnel Album, Minor Obsessions. Album written and produced by Edwin James. Described as 'an insanely talented tunesmith' by E. McFee of HotPress Magazine, I was delighted and pretty honoured that Edwin asked me to collaborate with him on no less than two tracks for the album. The album was released on 11th October.

The launch party for Minor Obsessions took place on Saturday last in The Grand Social in Dublin. I performed live versions of my two tracks 'Remedy for my Soul' and 'The Rejection'. Was great to perform them live and in the company of such talent. A shout out to Liam Dunne (I'm now his no 1 fan… loved his set) , Donnacha Costello, Tenth PlanetMusic and Process Recordings. A big shout out too to my vocal partner in crime on the night Miss Deborah Kelly.

If you wanna show the love and purchase the album you can do so on all digital download stores or on the Process Recordings website. And if you don't believe me about how good the album is check out the external reviews I've pasted at the end of the blog :))

On a separate note I'm working on some cool new tracks and must say am pretty excited by these two. Next Monday i'm off to Paris, France to record a dance music track with a legendary Brazilian House music maestro (who I can't currently name at the moment). However, this guy has produced remixes for the likes of Shakira and The Bee Gees and is pretty much legendary in House music circles.

I'm also working on a track for DJ Chris Browne. I was introduced to Chris by Michelle Dunne, one of my Story of Motown and Jewelettes 'sistahs'. Chris was looking for someone to do vocals and since Michelle is more into the cheesy stuff she decided to put me in touch with Chris instead (sorry Michelle.. it's true… you're a cheese please type o gal!!). All joking aside , I was struck by the feel-good happy house vibe of Chris' music so jumped at the chance to put a vocal to one of his tracks… vocal currently under construction, but it's gonna be a pretty laid back summer tune, watch this space!

As promised in my last blog here's the link to the video for 'Miss You' by The PW Sessions. I also attach another link to a session we did for Bandwagon TV.. crammed into a caravan last Wednesday singing Don't Stop was bizarre, VERY different BUT great craic ..cheers to The Bandwagon TV guys Sean and Kevin :))

So with all the goings on with the original music is there any time for Antoinette Dunleavy church singer or Antoinette Dunleavy, wedding singer? ABSOLUTELY. I did the wedding of the beautiful Tricia (and Will of course) in Naas last Friday and am in Dublin this coming Friday at the wedding of Mandy and Brian.

On top of that I've been extremely busy with administration for bookings for next year (as well as bookings for 2012!)- the diary is filling up pretty heavily. If you want a wedding singer for next year my advice is get in early to book your preferred singer (particularly for the summer months) as most wedding singers or church singers worth their salt will be booked months in advance.

OK peoples, gonna leave it there, Thanks for reading.Until the next time!

PS Don't forget to check out the feedback below for 'Minor Obsessions' !

PRAISE FOR 'MINOR OBSESSIONS' AND 'REMEDY FOR MY SOUL'

I know they say don't believe your own hype… but the hype is good, so we're gonna take it while it's going! So here goes with a sample of some of the feedback we've received:

'It's not the standardized dance album of say, David Guetta. No, it's better than that' Pete M, review of Minor Obsessions for HarderFaster.

'The overall atmosphere is deep and dark..except the vocals… Antoinette is the sunshine that takes you along the trip' Erik Buis in reviewing the Rennie Foster remix of Remedy For My Soul

Remedy For my Soul referred to as 'obvious standout' and also voted the 'key track' of the album Minor Obsessions by HotPress Magazine

"Great track! Reminds me of The Gossip" - DJ Tronic (DanceFloor Mayhem)

"Great track, nice for a backroom set" - Tom Findlay (Groove Armada)

"Good song, catchy vocal and music. It's a hit!" - Shane Johnson (Fish Go Deep)

"21st Century Synth Pop, love it :)" - Mitch Davis (Electric Sheep)

"I love the Italo-disco connections!" - Chelonis R Jones

"Remedy For My Soul is master." - Theo Ploeg (OOR)

"Best Album to date from Edwin. I am pleasantly surprised by the variation and also the vocals are a welcoming change especially Antoinette is touching the senses here. Good work and deserves more and better things for Mr James!" - Orlando Voorn

Ahhh, my very first blog... !

Well well well..what's been happening in the world of Antoinette Dunleavy, 'wedding singer', 'church singer', general 'never shuts up singing singer' lately huh? Too much to mention I'm thinkin'. Think I've had the busiest two months of my life ..so this is a sincere deep heartfelt apology to those ever patient friends of mine who I constantly promise to meet up with but consistently cancel on last minute.... Tray, Aud, Rachel, Trish etc etc (Ci...you'd get a mention but I haven't had a chance to cancel on you since you're living it up in NYC..am saving a cancelation for when you move back to London ;-)… you gals rock. And Andy..who's off gallivanting in New Zealand.. I WILL get that email I promised off to you... sometime before Christmas!! x

Soooo, what's been happenin' I hear ya say? Just get on with it I hear ya say! Ok, ok.

I gotta start with Upbeat Generation, a cool band I've done a couple of dep. gigs with recently. This band are funkalicious to say the least, playing everything from Prince to Sister Sledge to Blondie and Stevie Wonder to MJ. I gotta admit I cried a little tear of sadness at the return of their regular singer Amy Kelly (you gotta hear this girl sing btw, luscious vocals with soul and attitude, absolutely knocked Aretha Franklins 'Respect' outta the park..SING IT GIRL!). Colin, Damien, Stevie and Wiley - I MISS you guys! Get into The Mezz, just off Dame Street every Monday night from 11pm to get a piece of this crew… you heard it here peoples…you heard it here. (myspace) and (facebook)

It was while out with Upbeat Generation in The Bloomfield Hotel that I bumped into Trish Mallin of Wedding Films Ireland, Trish was filming a wedding video for the wedding couple (obviously Ant I hear ya say!) and we got chatting about anything and everything waiting on the wedding party to arrive. Check out their website…their stuff is fantastic and looking at Trish in action I think I'll be booking that gal for my own wedding, she's a total perfectionist (can you get married these days without a man? All I really want is the dress and the adoration!)… check out www.wfi.ie for further info on this great company.

Church Singing has NOT been far off my agenda.. last Friday singing at the wedding of my dear friend Lisa to Joey in St Murdachs Church in Mayo , what a stunning bride you made Lisa! Back on 11th September I was lucky enough to meet Father Peter McVerry who was officiating at the wedding of Des and Jane.

Am in Motown mode this weekend performing The Story of Motown at Castle Arch Hotel in Trim on Saturday night with my gals , Sharon, Michelle and Mike (yes… I did say Mike… he's definitely one of us gals now, no escaping it) all taking centre stage along with The Jewelettes Motown Big Band.. it's gonna be a great night..tickets still available! Check out www.thejewelettes.com or www.thestoryofmotown.com for further info.

Ok… gonna leave it there for the mo…but before I do…I just wanna send out a BIG sarcastic thank-you to my band mates from The PW Sessions for literally waxing my living room floor last night during the making of the video for Miss You… I kid you not…candles galore… I've spent the morning scraping candle wax off the floor.. Steve… this video BETTER be good. You have been warned! … check out The-PW-Sessions on Facebook for the video.. it'll be hitting your Facebook screen very soon!

Laters my lovely peoples :))

Antoinette was one of the founding members of The PW Sessions back in Jan 2009 - and since then the band has gone from strength to strength writing and performing their original tracks at venues across Ireland, most notably supporting Scottish songstress Sandi Thom (I Wish I Was a Punkrocker), Kinky Friedman and Ciara Allen and taking to the mainstage of Whelans no less than three times… watch this space - there's lots on the upcoming agenda for The PW Sessions!
